Founded in 1887, the Detroit Athletic Club has been a staple of the city’s social scene for more than a century, hosting presidents, kings and prominent figures in the automobile industry such as Henry Ford. The club is currently voted No. 1 Athletic Club in America.
Established on historic Madison Avenue, the club is near many of the city’s unique attractions, including the famous Music Hall. The roof-top plaza level of the building provides beautiful 360-degree views including Comerica Park and other venues.
The club features a six-story clubhouse designed by renowned architect Robert Kahn in an ornate Renaissance style. Inside, full athletic facilities await you, complete with a pool on the fourth floor. Multiple dining options, social spaces and sleeping rooms round out the offerings.
For the founders, an important goal was to create a foundation to give back to the community. Since then, the DAC Foundation has supported numerous athletes and scholars as they reach toward their goals.
